Description

Degree Programme in Youth Work and Social Equality is the first higher level degree in English in the area of youth policy and youth work in Finland.

The degree programme includes advanced studies in civic activity, participation, preventive work and youth organization work within the framework of European youth policy and youth work. The programme aims to expand students’ knowledge with the help of special expertise provided by our international partners, the University of Bedfordshire and the University of Tartu, Viljandi Culture Academy.

The student group functions as an authentic learning environment for expertise in cultural sensitivity. The objective is to develop European youth work and youth policy know-how in order to increase the safety of youth.

The international and multicultural nature of youth work demands increasingly new models of preventive work also at the national level. For example, in the multi-professional fields of child protection and youth crime prevention, there is a demand for Master’s degree education that will bring new types of competencies to the sphere of youth work and it´s interfaces with social, health and educational work. The studies are closely connected to the working life. Furthermore, the Degree Programme promotes the internationalisation of work communities and the networking in the youth field.
