The community educator studies train specialists in adventure and outdoor education. Adventure and outdoor education is based on experiential and activity-based learning methodology and aims at supporting the growth, development, wellbeing and agency of individuals, groups and communities.
From the beginning of the studies, the theoretical framework of adventure and outdoor education will be put into practice through practical activities, excursions and field trips, e.g. hikes and treks, kayak tours, summer and winter camps, and Nordic winter activities. The studies are carried out in various authentic outdoor classrooms, e.g. lakes, sea, archipelago, and among fells and wilderness in Lapland. The home campus of the degree programme is Humak Helsinki campus in Haaga (Ilkantie 4, 00400 Helsinki).
The joint application period of the degree programme in adventure and outdoor education is 4.1. – 18.1.2023 (ends at 15:00 (Finnish time)) and the full-time studies begin in Autumn. Application information is available on Studyinfo. The admissions procedure consists of International UAS Exam. International UAS Exam is an online entrance examination, which consists of two phases. Detailed information on the Exam can be found at website UASinfo.fi.
