Theory put into practice<\/h2>\n

The theoretical framework of adventure and outdoor education will be put into practice as soon as the studies begin through different kinds of activities and excursions, such as hikes and treks, kayak tours, summer and winter camps, and Nordic winter activities. Through experiential and activity-based processes the students will learn how to plan, organize, implement and evaluate safe adventure and outdoor activities for different target groups in different environments and under various circumstances.<\/p>\n

During the studies the students will learn multiple new skills, especially pedagogical, leadership, social, environmental, technical and safety skills. The studies for community educators will also cover areas such as the Nordic welfare system, preventive work, equality, diversity, and entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n

The structure of the studies<\/h2>\n

The interplay of theory and practice is emphasized throughout the curriculum. The students\u2019 knowledge and skills will develop from factual knowledge, supported by practical experience, towards more abstract and analytical knowledge and skills.<\/p>\n

The studies are conducted as full-time day studies, including summer semesters. At least 30 ECTS will be conducted as supervised internships either in Finland or abroad. The students\u2019 study and work history will be taken into account (recognition of prior learning) in their individual study plans.<\/p>\n

The workload of the degree programme equals 210 ECTS credits. The degree programme covers the following core contents:<\/p>\n
