It refers to the knowledge and management of the various IT tools, programmes and applications needed in an interpreter&#8217;s work and an understanding of how the rapidly advancing digitalisation affects the interpreter&#8217;s work environments and practices.<\/p>\n<p>At the Kuopio campus, we train interpreters who are able to utilize various methods that support communication in their future work, such as sign language or picture communication. These methods support, supplement or replace the language used in the interaction situation.<\/p>\n<h2>Professional Skills of an Interpreter and AAC Instructor<\/h2>\n<p>We train interpreters and AAC instructors (Interpreter, Bachelor\u2019s degree) with diverse expertise in interpreting, human interaction and linguistic accessibility.<\/p>\n<h3>An interpreter graduated from Humak\u2019s Kuopio campus:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>masters various methods of communication<\/li>\n<li>can interpret<\/li>\n<li>is able to provide guidance in AAC instruction and teaching tasks<\/li>\n<li>is able to advise on issues related to AAC instruction<\/li>\n<li>is able to act in a professionally appropriate and ethical manner.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Job Opportunities of an Interpreter and AAC Instructor (Interpreter, Bachelor\u2019s Degree)<\/h2>\n<p>An interpreter (Bachelor\u2019s degree) can work in oral communication situations for clients who have momentary or permanent language challenges. Such clients may include people with autism spectrum disorders, people with language impairments, people with memory problems, people with CP disabilities, people who have moved to another country, as well as children and young people. The basis of the interpreting service is the laws that guarantee the right of those with hearing, vision and hearing, or speech impairment to interpreting and thereby participate in society.<\/p>\n<p>Interpreters (Bachelor\u2019s degree) can also work in other expert positions. These expert tasks can be, for example, teaching, organizational work and working on projects.<\/p>\n<p>An interpreter can work for an interpreting company or work as an entrepreneur.<\/p>\n<p>Those graduated from this programme may be employed in, for instance, employment and activity centres, housing units, rehabilitation institutions, hospital districts, early childhood education and schools, as well as various associations and organizations.<\/p>\n<p>An interpreter (Bachelor\u2019s Degree) promotes the right of people to use their own language and methods of communication in a variety of interaction situations.
