Library Collections and Locations

Library collections

The library collections focus on sign language and interpreting, youth and NGO work, adventure education, cultural management and socially oriented education and civic work.

Humak Library collections include:

  • E-books and e-journals
  • Printed books
  • Other materials, such as activity cards

The collection policy guides the acquisition and maintenance of library materials. Its relevance is reviewed annually.

The aim is to provide up-to-date and high-quality materials that support:

  • Teaching and learning in Humak’s degree programmes
  • Research, development, and innovation (RDI) activities of Humak staff
  • Societal impact and lifelong learning

Library materials are primarily acquired in electronic format to ensure accessibility for all students and staff. Printed materials are acquired to complement e-resources when an electronic version is not available. Course literature may also be acquired in audiobook format.

Users who require audiobooks for health-related reasons can access the materials of the Celia Accessible Library. Celia membership is registered at the library at the request of a study counsellor.

Acquisition channels are competitively tendered and provide materials with licences suitable for library use.

Outdated or low-use materials are regularly evaluated and withdrawn to keep the collection current and relevant. The library does not accept donations. Acquisition suggestions can be submitted for the collection.
