Jyväskylä
Kielo, Mattilanniemi 6-8, Mattilanniemi
In Jyväskylä, you can study to become a Community Educator or Cultural Manager
Starting in autumn 2026, our office will be located in Mattilanniemi, in a beautiful location by lake Jyväsjärvi, just 1.5 km from the centre of Jyväskylä. The area is popular with IT and ICT companies, and its close location to the University of Jyväskylä campus creates good opportunities for cooperation and networking.
Arrival
Our campus is located at Mattilanniemi 6–8, 40100 Jyväskylä, in the C part on the first floor. Mattilanniemi is easy to reach on foot, by bicycle, and by public transport. In addition, the Ylistö Bridge connects the Mattilanniemi and Ylistönmäki campus areas, providing an easy route to our campus for both cyclists and pedestrians.
By public transport
The nearest bus stop is 50 metres from the main entrance. Two bus routes run to Mattilanniemi.
By bicycle or electric scooter
There are plenty of bicycle racks with frame locks in the Mattilanniemi courtyard. You can also ask the reception about access to a monitored indoor bicycle parking area in the parking garage (10€/month). Electric scooters can be left, for example, near the bicycle racks.
By car
There is good parking available on the property for both visitors and staff, and charging points for electric and hybrid cars are also available. Parking in designated visitor spaces is free of charge, provided that you register your licence plate at the reception.
Accessibility information
Two designated accessible parking spaces are available in front of the building’s main entrance.
From the main lobby, you can access the C part of the building through two large inner doors, which open automatically using a push button. The button is placed on the wall near the door at a height that is also suitable for wheelchair users.
Accessible toilets are located on the first floor in the main lobby and next to the lunch restaurant. The accessible toilet next to the restaurant is close to the Humak premises. All accessible toilets are equipped with call-for-assistance systems and support rails.
The main entrance at Mattilanniemi does not currently have an automatic door opener, and the door is heavy. This may make access difficult for wheelchair users, but the Kielo reception staff can see the entrance and are available to help with opening the door. An automatic door opener will be installed at the main entrance in 2027.
