Time-out for equality
We promote equality in sports and recreational activities by dismantling discriminatory structures and strengthening the inclusion of minorities.
Safely participating as oneself
Young people and adults belonging to minority groups often experience discrimination in sports and recreational activities. The goal of the project is to advance gender equality and non-discrimination. We aim to identify and reduce discrimination related to gender identity, sexual orientation, or ethnicity. The project focuses on people belonging to sexual and gender minorities, as well as girls and women from ethnic minority backgrounds.
The project is implemented in Finnish and Swedish. Humak’s responsibility in the project is to lead teamwork and network collaboration. We bring expertise in service design, co-creation, and equality into the project work.
Actions
1. Map the experiences of minority groups regarding equality in recreational activities, as well as the experiences of sports and recreational actors in promoting equality.
2. Develop methods to promote equality based on the mapping results, in collaboration with minority groups and recreational actors.
3. Pilot the developed methods in four regions: Pirkanmaa, Ostrobothnia, Uusimaa, and Southwest Finland.
4. Share and embed the methods and lessons learned during the project into nationwide sports and recreational activities.
