OSUMA – Streamlining Studies, Expanding Opportunities, and Enhancing Collaboration in Culture campus Turku Studies

We promote smoother study paths for higher education students in the Turku region.

Towards smoother study paths

OSUMA is a three-year project funded by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture (OKM). During the project, we develop opportunities for students in the cultural fields in the Turku region to take advantage of course offerings provided by institutions other than their own. In addition, our aim is to develop joint course offerings between institutions and to explore possibilities for using the opin.fi service to disseminate the results of this collaboration.

Educational institutions in the region that offer studies in the cultural field have different approaches to study content. The OSUMA project builds on this diversity. Jointly planned and implemented course offerings enrich students’ study opportunities, diversify degree content, and facilitate students’ flexible mobility between institutions. In designing the studies, we make use of collaboration with working life and project-based learning.

The coordinating higher education institution of the project is Åbo Akademi, and the coordinating institution for the university of applied sciences sector is Turku University of Applied Sciences. Humak University of Applied Sciences and the University of Turku participate in the project as co-implementers, and the network also includes Turku Conservatory and the City of Turku.

Objectives

– Organize networking events where staff from the project’s participating institutions and cultural sector actors in the region can meet.

– Explore and pilot possibilities for providing jointly planned course offerings.

– Explore the functionality of the opin.fi platform as an environment for hosting joint course offerings.
