The Cultural Manager (Bachelor’s Degree), Event Production programme gives you the skills you need to succeed in the event industry. You will learn to design, coordinate and manage events, and to create sustainable and impactful experiences.
The events sector is a growing, varied field of work packed with exciting opportunities. Your work will require a diverse skill set, including business acumen, digital expertise, and the ability to manage and coordinate large projects. During your studies, you will build strong networks through assignments, work projects, and internships, helping you step confidently into the world of work. The multimodal programme combines independent, online, and on-campus study.

Programme content
The Cultural Manager (UAS), Event Production programme consists of common studies at the University of Applied Sciences and vocational modules. You will focus on event production, an exciting and growingoperating environment. The degree comprises 240 credits and is typically completed within 3.5 to 4 years. You can graduate more quickly by gaining recognition of prior learning (RPL) and/or completing courses during the summer.
Common studies will provide you with the readiness for studying, operating in working life and proactive development. Ethics, internationality and cultural diversity will create the foundation for community work and developing a professional background.
The event production programme will transform you from a learner into an active creator first and ultimately into a developer.
The studies provide a versatile, in-depth, and practical approach to the essential skills in the sector, such as project management, innovation, and communication. You will also learn about entrepreneurship, productisation, and the principles of finance in the creative industries.
The studies provide a versatile, in-depth, and practical approach to the essential skills in the sector, including project management, digital event production, and event security. You will also learn about event financing, marketing, and event technology. The elective modules give you the flexibility to specialise or deepen your expertise in your chosen area. You can also earn credits for volunteering, cultural work, and projects you undertake outside your studies.
During your studies, you will complete five practical training periods in various organisations in the events sector. You will independently search for practical training positions based on your interests. Practical training strengthens your skills and supports your development from student to working professional. It also enables you to network with professionals and organisations in your field during your studies, providing you with valuable contacts in the sector. The networking and work experience gained through practical training often play an essential role in finding employment.
In addition to practical training periods, projects and work-life cooperation, networking and learning are important means during your studies. They also offer you a genuine working environment to learn in while receiving guidance on the concrete development of the field. From the outset of your studies, you will do work-life projects directly with organisations in the field on topics such as marketing, service design, and digital production. In addition, the studies include visits and familiarisation with the events sector, lectures by experts in the field as part of the teaching, and authentic assignments from various organisations in the sector related to the themes of the modules. The lecturers are widely networked with actors in the sector and are active in the field. This provides you with a front-row view of the latest themes in the sector and relevant examples.
At Humak, the RPL, i.e. Recognition of Prior Learning process, means in practice that a student can make use of their prior expertise to advance their studies. This expertise can come from work experience, prior studies or, for example, hobbies and volunteer work, if they are related to the goals of the studies. Approved skills are entered into the study register, which can compensate for a course partially or entirely. Your personal coach is responsible for the RPL procedure.

Execute event projects
You will have an excellent understanding of events as entities, and you will be able to coordinate them responsibly in line with sustainable development. Being familiar with the legal provisions and contractual practices related to events will support your work. Furthermore, you will be a master of time management and capable of managing yourself and your activities with confidence and clarity.
Develop with creativity
You will be an expert in the necessary innovation and problem-solving methods in working life, enabling you to apply these methods when developing events creatively and sustainably, with a view to the future. In addition, you will be a proficient communicator and understand the importance of strong interpersonal skills as an ingredient in co-development, team leadership, and networking.
Produce towards targets
You will be able to coordinate large-scale event productions with purpose and goals in mind. An understanding of event safety and the ins and outs of event technical production will support your work. Furthermore, you will master public‑ and customer-oriented marketing and know how to turn events into engaging, memorable experiences.
Manage finances
You will be familiar with financing opportunities in the event sector and know how to secure financing for events across various industries and sizes. In addition, you will be able to build event budgets and manage finances systematically and proactively.
Cultural managers are widely employed in the arts, cultural and audiovisual fields as well as in business roles in the creative industries
Having specialised in event production, you will be a cultural manager who can work on corporate events, trade fairs, or concerts at an events company, for example. Other interesting career opportunities exist in tourism, sports, and entertainment events.
Event Manager
As an event manager, you will work on events, such as those in large venues or arenas. Robust event production skills are also needed for B2B and corporate events across various industries, as well as in sports, tourism, and entertainment.
Festival Manager
As a festival producer, you will design and realise public events of all sizes. Your work will create moments people remember forever.
Cultural Manager
As a cultural manager specialising in event production, you could work in the cultural services division of a municipality or city, an association, or a company in the creative sectors. Your duties may include producing cultural events, training, seminars and competitions, both online and live.
