Work and Mental Wellbeing – Mieliteko 2.0

Promoting mental health and occupational well-being in Northern Savonia through evidence-based training, research and collaborative practices.

Well-being at work starts with supporting mental health!

Work and Mental Well-being – Mieliteko 2.0 is a three-year collaborative project in Northern Savonia, led by the City of Kuopio and in partnership with the University of Eastern Finland as well as Savonia- and Humak University of Applied Sciences. Our mission is to strengthen resilience and mental health at work in a rapidly changing world.

The target group of the project comprises of employed adults (18+ years) in Northern Savonia. Through practical coaching and procedures, we provide concrete tools to support mental well-being. The need is clear: in Finland up to 625,000 people are at risk of burnout due to work and in Northern Savonia, the number of disability pensions is proportionally increased compared to other regions. Supporting workplace well-being is essential for the vitality of the region and for building a sustainable working life.

In the project, Humak focuses on Precision Working Ability Coaching – not just for individuals but for entire communities. The coaching aims to identify cultural and environmental factors of the workplace that may weaken one’s working ability, and strengthen practices that promote mental well-being. Humak’s expertise lies in workplace development, diversity and inclusion and solution-focused coaching. Our approach fosters an open dialogue culture where strengths and capabilities are highlighted. Humak ensures that the coaching processes are participatory, practical and designed to support sustainable well-being across Northern Savonia.

Goals

In the project, we:

1. Provide coaching for employees, supervisors and entire work communities to strengthen mental well-being.

2. Develop new models to support resilience at work and promote mental health.

3. Utilise research on the current state and development of workplace well-being in Northern Savonia.

4. Build collaboration between organisations and stakeholders to ensure that the role of solutions for workplace well-being become a permanent focus in the region.

Through these actions the project aims to create sustainable workplace well-being, increase appreciation of mental health and strengthen the vitality of Northern Savonia.
