From Adventure Toward Education and Employment

The project focuses on improving the employment and further education opportunities of NEET youth through adventure education activities.

Empowerment through Adventure 

From Adventure Toward Education and Employment (FATE) project focuses on using adventure education to improve employment and further education opportunities for young people and young adults who are not in employment, education or training. The project aims to promote young people’s initiative and participation in society through adventure education and experiential learning.

Adventure education and experiential learning will be implemented at both local and international level. The project provides individual guidance, peer group activities and training for youth workers.

The project consists of five work packages, three of which are directly targeted at the target group:

– Work package 2: ‘Training and evaluation’ focuses on developing the competences of youth workers in adventure education and the use of adventure education methods.
– Work package 3: ‘Development of adventure education activities’ will develop and implement adventure education methods for young people in the target group and will create a European guide on the use of adventure education in youth work.
– Work package 4: ‘Self-development of young people’ supports young people’s self-development, civil engagement and the development of youth work practices.

The project also includes two work packages focusing on project management and information dissemination during and after the project.

Humak UAS is responsible for work package 2 by organising a four-day training on adventure education for youth workers in Finland and mentoring youth workers during the project in an online environment. In addition, Humak UAS will be responsible for developing the evaluation tools and monitoring the evaluation.

Work package 3 Humak UAS will act as an expert on the theoretical framework for the creation of the European Adventure Education Guide. In addition, Humak will participate in all work packages as a co-implementer.

The lead of the project is Valo-valmennusyhdistys Ry and the project partners are the Humak University of Applied Sciences, Inovatyvi karta (Lithuania) and Sfera International Bitola (North Macedonia).

Results

The expected results are:

(1) young people’s social, problem-solving, leadership, teamwork and collaboration skills will increase;

(2) young people’s self-esteem will improve;

(3) youth workers’ knowledge/competences in the areas of adventure education will increase;

(4) participants will recognize the impact of adventure education in the natural spaces in their mental health;

(5) young people’s readiness to study/work will improve;

(6) cooperation among project partners will be strengthened.
