Transfer Application

A student studying in a Finnish higher education institution can transfer their study entitlement to another University of Applied Sciences.

In the transfer application, you can apply for

  • a transfer from another Finnish higher education institution to a degree of the same level at Humak, or
  • a transfer within Humak from a degree of the same level to a different field of study, in which case your degree title will change.

The application period is held twice a year: in spring from 1–15 May and in autumn from 1–15 November. Explore the available study options and submit your transfer application on the Studyinfo.fi website during the application period.

Eligibility Criteria

You must have a valid right to study at a Finnish higher education institution and sufficient time remaining to complete your studies.

The transfer requires that most of your completed study credits can be recognized towards the target degree, and that your remaining right to study (including one additional year) is sufficient to complete the degree. For a Master’s (YAMK) transfer, you must additionally hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree (AMK) or other lower university degree and have at least 24 months of relevant work experience after completing your degree.

Selection Criteria

The selection considers the study credits you have completed by the end of the application period. Prepare a recognition of prior learning (RPL/AHOT) plan for your completed studies. Fill out the RPL plan form carefully and attach it to your Studyinfo.fi application no later than 7 days after the end of the application period. Check the Required Attachments section for any additional documents you need to include in your application.

If there are more eligible applicants than available places, applicants are ranked based on the number of completed studies and the extent to which completed studies can be recognized towards the target degree. Applicants may also be invited to a suitability interview.

Required documents

  1. An up-to-date transcript of records in Finnish and in English
  2. Up-to-date certificate of studies
  3. Recognition plan prepared by the applicant (in Finnish)

Admission Decision

  • We will send the decision regarding your admission to the email address you provided on your application form.
  • When you accept a new study place after a transfer application, your previous study right ends. Accepting a study place is binding, and you cannot later cancel or change it.
  • A transfer can be granted after the first active semester, and it will take effect at the beginning of the following semester. The duration of your study right is calculated from the date you accepted the study place at your previous higher education institution. All semesters of attendance and absence used at your previous institution are included in the calculation of your study right.
  • The duration of study for your new degree is reduced by the time you have already spent completing your previously started degree.
  • The University of Applied Sciences may revoke the admission if certificates are not submitted by the deadline or if the applicant has provided incorrect information.
