Eligibility criteria for applicants wishing to finish their degree

  • No more than five years have passed since the interruption of studies, and the applicant began their studies on or after August 1, 2015. If the studies were started before August 1, 2015, the applicant must apply for admission as a degree student through the joint application system or the open pathway.
  • The applicant has lost their right to study for one of the following reasons:
    – They have withdrawn from the degree program or education.
    – Their right to study has expired.
    – They have been registered as having withdrawn because they have neglected their obligation to register, and their right to study has expired.
  • At the time of application, the missing studies may correspond to a maximum of one year of studies (60 credits). In studies leading to a higher university of applied sciences degree, no more than half of the scope of the degree may be missing. Studies completed at an open university of applied sciences or another university of applied sciences are also taken into account if they are fully transferable to the target degree. Credits that can be transferred may be no more than 10 years old, and their suitability for the target degree is always assessed on a case-by-case basis. The 10-year rule also applies to the original completion date of any previously transferred credits.

Other criteria

  • The resources of the profit center allow for the admission of the student to the program.
  • Humanities and education programs have health and functional capacity requirements, which also apply when granting the right to study again.

Please note

Re-admission may be granted for a maximum of two semesters. The right to study always begins at the start of the semester.

Students with re-granted study rights do not have the right to be absent, nor can they be granted discretionary additional time to complete their studies.

Re-admission can only be granted once. If a student does not complete their degree with re-admission, they must apply to become a degree student either through the joint application system or the open pathway.

A processing fee of 50€ is charged from students for processing the application (Decree 1440/2014, in Finnish). The processing time for applications is approximately one month.
