Higher Education Institution Networks
We are developing higher education in domestic networks.
Domestic higher education institute collaboration
We work closely with Finnish higher education institutions to strengthen education, research and development and links with working life.
Strategic collaboration enables the concentration of know-how, the co-development and the production of effective solutions to the needs of society and working life. Partnerships are built on a long-term basis and are based on shared expertise, pedagogical development and practical work.

Domestic higher education institute networks and collaboration
6AMK – Development of continuous learning by utilising expertise and results produced in RDI activities
Six universities of applied sciences – Haaga-Helia, Humak, HAMK, Xamk, Laurea and Metropolia – are jointly developing new models of continuous learning between 2025 and 2028.
The collaboration promotes the link between research, development and innovation and training flexible ways of recognising work-based competences as part of higher education and peer-to-peer learning between universities of applied sciences.
The 6AMK collaboration involves the internal development of higher education institutions’ activities. The primary target groups for collaboration are the actors in higher education project work, training processes and lifelong learning. The indirect target groups are learners of working age and those in working life.
The 6AMK collaboration is funded by the strategic development fund of the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture.
4Q – seeking more impressive, cost-efficient and student-oriented solutions together
The 4Q collaboration is a joint four-year development project between four Finnish universities of applied sciences – the Diaconia University of Applied Sciences (Diak), the Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (KAMK), the Humak University of Applied Sciences and Yrkeshögskolan Arcada, which is being implemented with the funding of the Ministry of Education and Culture for the 2025–2028.
The main purpose of the collaboration is to bring the expertise, resources and operations of higher education institutions together more strongly so that they can together create more impressive, cost-effective and student-oriented solutions than each institution alone can do.
The goals and investments of the 4Q collaboration are aimed towards developing the wellbeing of students as well as the flexibility and quality of studies. Within the framework of the network, for example, a joint cross-institutional study model is being developed, which allows students to choose their studies from the offering of several higher education institutions. In addition, digital tools, such as the ZekkiPro tool, will be introduced to monitor the wellbeing of students and to better target support.
Student orientation and impact are key drivers of the activities: the collaboration aims to address the challenges of student well-being, support early learning and improve accessibility of services, which in turn will help students to pass and graduate. At the same time, the aim is to increase the societal impact of higher education and to respond to the changing skills needs of working life.
In practice, the 4Q network operates on several levels: it organises joint training for staff, develops common management and monitoring models (including effectiveness metrics), develops teaching and support activities, and deepens the dialogue with partner organisations. All these actions aim to enable the higher education communities to respond together to today’s challenges more effectively and sustainably.
Digivisio and the Opin.fi service
Digivisio 2030 is a joint project of all Finnish higher education institutions, the goal of which is to create a future for learning that benefits both higher education institutions, learners and our society.
Digivisio enables learners to learn more flexibly and thereby build up their skills to meet the needs of a changing world. The open course offering of all universities of applied sciences is available on the opin.fi service in 2026.
Digivisio strengthens the role of the teacher as a producer of high-quality content and enabler of an internationally acclaimed study experience.
Digivisio ensures that the level of universities of applied sciences will increase and the employment of people in Finland will improve – in both Finland and at the international level.
Culture Campus Turku, Study in Turku, Study in Jyväskylä
In addition to national networks and collaboration, we are involved in numerous other collaboration networks.
Culture Campus Turku gathers all educators in the field of arts and culture in Turku together. The network creates cross-institutional learning opportunities and organises events. With us, the network includes the Turku University of Applied Sciences, the University of Turku, the Åbo Akademi University, the Novia University of Applied Sciences and the Turku Conservatory.
Study in Turku is a project funded by the City of Turku, in which the city, in cooperation with institutes of higher education of the region, increases Turku’s attractiveness and sustainability as a place to study and work.
Study in Jyväskylä is a collaboration network coordinated by the city, which develops the city’s attractiveness and retention. With us, the network includes our higher education institute partners Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences (JAMK) and the University of Jyväskylä.
Cooperation in education with other universities of applied sciences
We organise training in cooperation with, for example, the Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK) and JAMK schools of vocational teacher education, both in projects and as part of degree courses.
Project cooperation
The institutes of higher education are developing Finland together. Our ongoing projects bring together the expertise of higher education institutions into unique entities that strengthen their social impact.
