Oona Tikkaoja
Doctor of Arts Oona Tikkaoja has worked at Humak University of Applied Sciences as a Senior Lecturer in Cultural Management for nearly two decades. She currently teaches in Humak’s Master’s degree programmes, teaching Community Educators and Cultural Managers.
In addition to her teaching, Oona works as a visual artist. She is committed to bringing art into everyday life, which is why her work focuses primarily on public and socially engaged art. Her most recent area of development is animal-assisted art practice, where artistic methods are used to support the creativity of both participants and animals. Oona holds a Doctor of Arts degree and a qualification in professional teacher education. In 2024, she qualified as an animal-assisted coach.

Jussi Muittari
Jussi Muittari holds a Master’s degree in Sports Sciences and is an IFMGA-certified mountain guide. He has worked for over 20 years across Europe as an instructor and guide in outdoor and mountain sports through his own company. In these fields, risk management, safety, and decision-making are central. Jussi has also contributed to developing curricula and safety expertise for outdoor sports in various projects.
At Humak University of Applied Sciences, Jussi works as a lecturer and trainer in the English-language Adventure Education programme. He is particularly passionate about coaching advanced students in technical and pedagogical skills. In his free time, Jussi stays active in nature through climbing, mountain biking, and skiing.

Päivi Timonen
Päivi Timonen is an expert in online pedagogy and works at Humak as a Lecturer in Online Pedagogy. She is a passionate advocate for collaborative online learning, striving to make flexible, real-time, and community-oriented learning opportunities accessible to everyone. Päivi believes that online learning can be as high-quality and effective as traditional education when it is designed and delivered actively, collaboratively, motivationally, and inclusively.
Päivi is an experienced online instructor who has designed and implemented a wide range of online courses and is familiar with diverse online learning environments. Her expertise includes self-paced online courses, cMOOCs, collaborative learning, and microlearning online formats. She also leads Humak’s digital learning development team, promoting collaborative online teaching and learning as a strategic focus area. Additionally, Päivi is a doctoral researcher investigating a coaching-pedagogical model for real-time collaborative online learning.
She defended her doctoral thesis in December 2025 at the Faculty of Education of the University of Lapland.

Laura Päiviö-Häkämies
Dr. Laura Päiviö-Häkämies works as a Senior Lecturer in the Cultural Management focus area at Humak. In her current role, she follows the development of cultural management and the creative industries from a frontline perspective. Her daily work includes teaching, mentoring, research and development, network building, and advancing the cultural sector from multiple angles.
Previously, Päiviö-Häkämies has held positions such as Project Manager and Secretary General for the international organisation STETE, Cultural Director for the City of Kotka, CEO of Kotkan Meripäivät Oy, Secretary General of The Tall Ships Races event, and Director of Education for Mynämäki Municipality. In 2023, she was on leave from Humak, serving as the CEO of the Turku Music Festivals.

Sikke Leinikki
Sikke Leinikki holds a Doctorate in Social Sciences and a Master’s degree in Environmental Science. Her career includes extensive experience in a variety of workplace development projects. In recent years, she has focused especially on issues related to employees working in non-permanent employment relationships.
At Humak, Sikke works as Head of Business Services. Previously, she served as a team leader and lecturer in the Workplace Development programme. Working at a university of applied sciences often involves project work, and Sikke has led several development projects. She is particularly passionate about professional development of teams, advancing the green transition, and learning new things. Sustainability and biodiversity conservation are also important values for her outside of work.

Kai Lehtonen
Kai Lehtonen, M.Ed., has long experience as a lecturer in adventure education. He is an active entrepreneur, training various groups in backcountry winter environments, with a focus on freeriding and snow safety. Kai frequently lectures on adventure education and the safety management of outdoor activities.
His qualifications include academic studies as well as certifications as a canoeing instructor and guide, trekking guide, and snow safety specialist.

Dr. Arto Lindholm works as a Senior Lecturer in Humak’s Master’s degree programmes. He has extensive experience in academic research, development work, and higher education. In addition, Arto is a versatile and prolific writer as well as an active participant in societal discussions.
