International Networks
Cooperation across borders
Cooperation across borders. Our international activities in Humak.
In cooperation with our international partners, we strengthen each other’s skills and expertise so that we can meet the needs and challenges of the future in education, working life and society more comprehensively.
For us, international cooperation means sharing know-how and good practices, promoting the mobility of students and staff, and building joint education programmes and research, development and innovation activities (RDI) with our partners. This way, we enrich teaching, strengthen working life connections and increase the effectiveness of our operations in an international operating environment.
Long-term cooperation with committed partners who share a common objective will enable success at both the national and international level. For Humak, international networks are a key method of developing education, expert work and societal impact across borders.

Our international networks and cooperation
Amber Road
The StudyEU Amber Road Alliance is a European university alliance that has been awarded the Seal of Excellence. We have been a member of the alliance since the start of 2024.
The Amber Road Alliance brings together nine European higher education institutions that are committed to developing long-term and strategic cooperation as a European university community. The aim of the Alliance is to strengthen the quality of education, research and development and to increase cooperation between higher education institutions across borders.
For us, membership in the StudyEU Amber Road Alliance means taking an active part in European higher education cooperation, building joint training facilities and development projects, and expanding the international opportunities for students and staff.
Erasmus+ and international higher education partners
We promote the internationality of our higher education community through the Erasmus+ programme by providing opportunities for students, staff and partners to learn, teach and collaborate across borders. Humak is actively involved in the Erasmus+ programme and is committed to developing international cooperation in European and international networks of higher education institutions.
Humak has agreements on student and staff mobility with more than 60 higher education partners. The majority of the partners are located in Europe, but there are also partnerships in countries such as Brazil, the United Kingdom, South Africa and India. For students, this means a wide range of opportunities for both short- and long-term international mobility.
Cooperation with partner higher education institutions is not limited to mobility. We work closely with higher education institutions to implement a wide range of research, development and innovation (RDI) projects and other development activities that support the quality of education, relevance to working life and societal impact.
The list of list of higher education institutions with which student and staff mobility is regular can be found in the Erasmus+ Exchange Destinations document found in the Student guide (link to this box).
In addition, Humak has higher education partners, with which cooperation focuses especially on joint RDI projects and development activities.
Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE)
We have been awarded the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) for 2021–2027. The ECHE enables participation in Erasmus+ mobility projects and strengthens our role in European education, development and cooperation.

Horizon Europe cooperation: EKIP European Cultural and Creative Industries Policy Platform
We are involved in the Horizon Europe partnership programme and are building the innovation policy platform for the creative and cultural sectors as part of the EKIP Engine cooperation.
We are developing an ecosystem-based operating model that strengthens the role of creative industries in open innovation, supports sustainable growth and brings together actors, researchers and decision-makers. Our expertise brings a practical and societally impactful perspective to the project. The project will end on 30 November 2026. A link will open to a new window.
Our other international networks
We are active in a number of international expert and training networks which enhance the quality of our teaching, our RDI activities and our social impact:
AAAE – The Association of Arts Administration Educators: An international developer website for art and cultural management education.
ENCATC: A European higher education and expert organisation network on cultural management and policy.
SocNet98: A European higher education and research cooperation network for social work
EOE Network: A European development network for adventure and experience pedagogy.
We are continuously looking for new international partnerships. Please contact us if you have a concrete idea for partnership in education, projects or expert services.
Post Graduate Diploma in Event (Business) Management
We implement, together with our partner, a 60 ECTS postgraduate-level programme in Event Production. It is designed for Bachelor’s degree graduates who wish to specialise in event management and pursue an international career in the field.
The programme provides a comprehensive overview of event planning, implementation and evaluation, as well as extensive hands-on learning in a variety of event environments. The studies are carried out as full-time studies on the Helsinki campus, preparing students to work globally in cultural, corporate and large-scale events.
The programme strengthens professional expertise, international perspective and career opportunities in the event industry. The degree also provides the opportunity to apply for Master’s-level degree programmes at Humak.
Studying in Helsinki offers the opportunity to utilise the vibrant event and cultural scene of the Helsinki metropolitan area as a dynamic learning environment.
