Check out our video presenting what it’s like to study the Bachelor’s Degree in Adventure and Outdoor Education:
Adventure Education in short
The degree programme’s (210 ECTS) multidisciplinary theoretical framework is put into practice from the beginning through practical activities and authentic learning environments.
As well as standard classroom teaching, the studies include hiking and trekking, kayaking, ropework and climbing, and other activities developing the outdoor competence of adventure educators both in the winter and summer seasons. In addition to our Helsinki campus and the local forests near Helsinki, the unique Nordic wilderness serves as an incredible learning environment.
The students will learn how to plan, organize, assess, and carry out adventure education activities for various target groups in varied environments taking all conditions into account. To succeed in your studies, you must have the required capabilities both physically and mentally for this active and challenging degree programme.

Wellbeing and the Futures of Youth and Community Work in short
At the core of the degree programme is an understanding of the processes that foster wellbeing and inclusion, combined with sustainable and future-oriented practices in youth and community work. These are put into practice through pedagogical approaches and collaborative projects carried out in close partnership with local communities, organizations, and institutions.
Learning takes place in diverse and authentic learning environments, complemented by excursions and activities in urban Finnish nature. Students study mainly at our Helsinki campus with shorter trips and expeditions primarily in the nature of southern Finland.
Students of Wellbeing and the Futures of Youth and Community Work will have a bilingual approach to their studies, gaining basic knowledge of Finnish during their studies. This might prove useful when applying for work in Finland. This programme is also well-suited both for international and domestic student, including immigrants living in Finland.
