Top content industry experts from India and Finland building collaboration

On April 23, the Europe-Asia Roundtable Sessions (EARS) and Humak University of Applied Sciences will bring Indian music and film industry professionals to the heart of Turku. The Songs & Sessions songwriting camp will reach its climax with a finale event at Logomo, gathering Finnish and Indian composers, producers, and artists to discuss international collaboration and explore future opportunities in the music industry.

The songwriting camp – organized in collaboration with EARS, Song Asia, Music Finland and Business Turku – is historic: for the first time, Finnish pop composers will work directly with their Indian counterparts to create music for the Indian market. While Finnish composers have already established a presence in East Asia, India’s rapidly growing music industry represents a new and exciting frontier for many.

India’s music landscape is undergoing a major transformation

Traditionally dominated by the film industry, the India’s music market has now expanded to include independent, or “non-film,” music, which already accounts for more than a quarter of India’s market. Driven by streaming platforms, this sector is growing rapidly, with creators’ revenues rising over 40% in 2024.

At the same time, India’s music and film scene is becoming increasingly globalized, opening concrete opportunities for international – and also new cross-IP – collaboration between music, film and game industries. The Songs & Sessions camp responds to this demand by combining Nordic songwriting expertise with Indian musical talent for film and game productions.

The event features an outstanding lineup of international speakers and creative leaders. Among them are Rafael Pereira, Managing partner at TINNUTS and Executive Trustee of India Music Exchange; Abhijeet Singh, a producer at Film Village Production; Tarun Swahney, President for EMEA and APAC at ShortsTV; and Bhumi, an acclaimed artist and songwriter. Together, they bring valuable perspectives of international collaboration, and the evolving global creative landscape. You can explore more about the panelists here.
