We welcome you to come watch the premiere broadcast of our Opening Ceremony of the Academic Year on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 2 to 3 PM on Humak’s YouTube channel.

The broadcast will bring the party atmosphere to your screen – let’s celebrate together!      

The programme includes:    

  • Greeting from our rector – Rector and CEO Jukka Määttä 
  • Musical performances – entrepreneur and sign language actor Silva Belghiti  
  • The power of culture: Communities as Builders of the Future – panel discussion. The discussion will be led by Principal Lecturer Laura Päiviö-Häkämies, and the panel will include Secretary General of Kulta ry Rosa Meriläinen, lecturer Minna Hautio, and lecturer Benny Majabacka 
  • Alumni greeting – Anna Ketopaikka, founder of dance studio Flama, Turku Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2025 
  • Student union Humako greeting – Senja Suntola, chair of the board and executive director, and Minea Lehtikangas, board member   
  • Greetings from the staff 

The hosts are Oona Tikkaoja and Olli Kamunen. 

You can turn off YouTube’s automatic subtitles, since

  • the broadcast is bilingual in Finnish and English
  • videos are subtitled
  • the broadcast is interpreted into Finnish sign language

Instructions for using the live chat

You can join the festive atmosphere during the broadcast by participating in the YouTube live chat.

On a computer, the chat will appear automatically on the right side of the video when you are signed in to YouTube. On a mobile device, the live chat appears below the video.

Open the broadcast in the YouTube app or in a browser, scroll down, and tap “Live chat” or “Chat.” In portrait mode, the chat may not be visible right away, so you can turn your device to landscape mode if needed.

The live chat is only available to signed-in users. If you are not signed in with a Google account, the chat may not be accessible.
