Studying on another campus and changing the profile / regional area of your degree

  1. For Students
  2. Your studies
  3. Study entitlement

Degree profile means whether your degree studies are implemented fully online or as blended studies.

Specialization describes the area of study under one degree programme. For example, under Community Education (Bachelor of Humanities) at Humak, you can study Adventure and Outdoor Education or Wellbeing and the Futures of Youth and Community Work.

Regional units specify the physical location where you study when you have in-person lectures or contact studies. Humak has a campus in Helsinki and regional units in Jyväskylä, Kajaani, Kuopio, Tampere and Turku. Humak students are welcome in all regional units.

Whether your degree studies are implemented fully online or as blended studies, or in what regional unit (campus), depends on where you applied to at Humak. You may change the mode of implementation or regional unit only if this is necessary for the progress of your studies. If you are considering studying at another regional unit or in another implementation, you should first discuss the matter with your coach. Completing individual courses in another regional unit does not require additional action beyond this discussion with your coach.

However, if you wish to officially change your mode of implementation or campus, you must submit an electronic application for a transfer. Please note that your regional unit will be officially updated in your student records, including your degree certificate, only if the transfer is applied for through the designated electronic form and granted by the Director of Education. The Director of Education may approve a transfer for particularly compelling reasons.

If you wish to change the mode of implementation for example from on-campus blended studies to online studies, or if you wish to change your specialization within the degree programme, please fill out the application between 1 May to 15 May or between 1 November to 15 November.

If the application is approved, the official transfer will take effect at the beginning of the following semester. A transfer may be granted no earlier than after the student’s first academic year of attendance and only if there is space available in the receiving study group.
