Build your international competence

You have many opportunities to gain international experience even when going abroad is not possible or relevant for you at the moment. At-home internationalisation means developing international and intercultural competence at your home institution without physical mobility.

At Humak, we aim to ensure that all students have the opportunity to develop international skills and the competences required in a global working life, regardless of whether they go on a student exchange or internship abroad.

You can internationalise at home by, for example:

• Completing part of your studies on English-taught course implementations. For example, all common studies are also offered in English.
• Participating in foreign-language teaching offered by other universities of applied sciences.
• Getting to know Humak’s exchange students and international degree students. You can, for example, apply to become a tutor for international students.
• Participating in teaching given by international visiting lecturers.
• Completing your internship in a multicultural work environment.
• Taking part in organising events, such as BIP weeks, together with international partners.
• Participating in international research and development projects.

At Humak, you can complete part of your studies as an international student exchange abroad. There are several exchange destinations and programmes to choose from, so you can find the option that best suits your goals. Humak’s student exchanges take place through the Erasmus+ programme.

A period abroad offers a unique opportunity to learn in a new environment, develop your language skills, and gain international experience that is increasingly valued in working life. You will learn to navigate different cultures, build an international network, and grow in both confidence and professional competence. An exchange experience broadens your horizons and often remains one of the highlights of your entire studies.

Student exchange can be completed either as a long-term exchange (2–12 months) or a short-term exchange (5 days) by participating in a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP).

At Humak, you can complete your degree internship abroad. An internship abroad is an excellent opportunity to gain international experience, develop your language skills, and deepen your professional competence through practical work tasks. An international internship can improve your employment prospects, boost your confidence, and help clarify your career plans.

If you meet the Erasmus+ grant criteria and complete your compulsory degree internship abroad, you will receive a grant for your international internship.
