Library services
Humak’s library supports your studies by providing guidance in information searching.
Through the library, you can also request interlibrary loans, order materials from another campus library, and subscribe to the Youth Information Library’s newsletter.
Information Search Guidance
Humak Library supports studying and research by providing guidance in information search. Explore our Information Search Guidance for more resources.
The library organizes orientation sessions for new student groups to introduce them to library services. Lecturers will book an info session for their group as part of the orientation week.
During the semester, we also offer open information search guidance sessions for all Humak students. You can find the schedule for these guidances on the Humak Finna homepage.
Links to join the open guidances are available on Humak’s general Teams channel, or you can request them from the library via kirjasto@humak.fi
Lecturers can also request information search guidance and workshops for their student groups, which are conducted as part of teaching. Detailed service descriptions can be found on Humak’s intranet.
Personal Information Search Guidance
Humak students and staff can book a personal information search session. In these sessions we help you to find relevant research materials for your thesis, report, or development project.
Reserving books
Painettu kirja
You can request a printed book from Humak’s collections to be delivered to another campus library if:
- the book is not available as an e-publication, and
- it is not available in printed form at your own campus library, or
- it is not available from other libraries in your region.
How to order a book:
- Search for the book in Humak Finna.
- Open the book’s details and select “Place a request.”
- Fill in the form and choose a pick-up location.
- You will receive an email when the book is ready for collection.
In the same way, you can also place a request for a book that is currently on loan and have it delivered to your own campus library.
E-book
The availability of reservations for e-books depends on the e-book platform. Some e-books cannot be reserved, but for example, Ellibs e-books can be reserved if all copies are currently on loan.

Interlibrary Loan

The library can order interlibrary loans for Humak students and staff if the required book or article is not available in Humak’s collections.
We also lend materials to other libraries. Interlibrary loan requests can be sent to kirjasto@humak.fi.
For Humak students and staff
If the book or article you need is not available in Humak’s collections or in nearby libraries, it can be ordered as an interlibrary loan from another library.
How to Request an Interlibrary Loan:
- Check Humak’s collections in Humak Finna to make sure the book or article is not already available.
- Check nearby libraries’ collections to see if the material you need can be found locally.
- Contact the library by email at kirjasto@humak.fi and provide details of the material you need.
- Library staff will place the interlibrary loan request on your behalf.
Interlibrary loan items can be picked up and returned at the Humak Campus Library.
Loan periods and renewals are determined by the lending library’s terms.
Article copies
You can request a copy of an article for personal, non-commercial use. Due to copyright restrictions, we cannot send articles by email. Copies will be printed and provided to you at the library.
For other libraries
We offer interlibrary loan services to other libraries. Items excluded from interlibrary loan include reference books, Jyväskylä campus course books, and other special collections specific to each campus library.
Interlibrary loan requests should be sent to kirjasto@humak.fi. We do not process interlibrary loans within the same city (the Helsinki metropolitan area is considered a single area).
Youth Information Library Newsletter
The Youth Information Library Newsletter, published generally once a month, brings together the latest publications in youth work and education. You can subscribe to the newsletter by emailing kirjasto@humak.fi. Please write “Nuorisotiedon kirjaston uutuuskirje” as the subject of your email.
