The Official Opening Ceremony of the Academic Year Streamed Live on September 9 at 2 PM

Join us for the start of the 2024–2025 academic year in an online broadcast on Monday, September 9, 2024, at 2:00 PM. The opening ceremony, lasting about an hour, will be held in Humak’s teaching languages: Finnish, English, and Finnish Sign Language. Welcome!

• Opening of the academic year – Vice Principal and Head of Education Päivi Marjanen
• Studia Generalia: “Youth, Participation and the City” – Mikko Vatka, Head of Youth Affairs for the City of Helsinki
• Get Ready With Us: How to Build an Inclusive Future – Panel discussion on the importance of youth participation and community in building the future. The discussion will be led by lecturer Anna-Maija Riutta, with panelists including Mikko Vatka, Humako’s Elina Liekkinen, and lecturer Miki Mielonen.
• Musical performances by Maria Emilia and Konsta Ylimaunu

The opening ceremony will be interpreted into Finnish Sign Language. The event will be partially in English. The Studia Generalia and panel discussion will be in Finnish, with English subtitles added after the event.
