FusionLabs – Competitiveness through Cross-Disciplinary Innovation Expertise

Cross-disciplinary innovation collaboration and international business expertise – from entrepreneurs to entrepreneurs.

FusionLabs strengthens the competitiveness of the creative content industries through multidisciplinary innovation expertise and international business know-how.

The target groups are professionals and entrepreneurs in the content industries who need to update their skills and adapt to the demands of a changing working life. The target sectors include, among others, the audiovisual, music, and game industries, digital fashion, and the entertainment, experience, and events sectors. The target regions are Pirkanmaa, Central Finland, and Southwest Finland.

The project responds to the needs identified in the Creative Industries Growth Strategy related to research-driven innovation activities, multidisciplinary collaboration, and sustainable growth. The project generates new competencies for companies’ international business operations and strengthens the change and innovation capabilities of professionals in the content industries.

The project’s co-operation partners are Music X Media, Music Finland, Business Turku / West Finland’s Film Commission, Business Tampere / Film Tampre, the City of Jyväskylä’s Business Development Services.

The main objectives of the project are to leverage international networks, strengthen research and innovation (RDI) expertise, and increase innovation collaboration between sectors.

Producing international market information for professionals in the regions, connecting with international networks, and utilizing existing resources to initiate cross-disciplinary collaboration are at the core of the project. Key activities include online training sessions and demonstrations of new operational models, where participants can deepen their knowledge and network with others.

As a result, the expertise and change capabilities of professionals in the creative content sectors will grow, promoting sustainable growth both nationally and internationally. The new skills and cross-disciplinary collaboration generated by the project will create a foundation for new jobs, business models, and international competitiveness.

The implementation of the FusionLabs project emphasizes the effective use of work-life networks and cross-disciplinary innovation collaboration in skill development. Existing networks and business events, such as those organized by Business Tampere, Business Turku, City of Jyväskylä’s Business Development Services and Music X Media, serve as platforms for developing and testing new collaboration models. Business events aim to enhance innovation activities by facilitating encounters where professionals can share their expertise and identify potential partners. This way, the networks can be utilized more effectively to support innovation and business growth.

The project enables professionals to learn how to apply research and trend information in their work and build
sustainable collaboration networks that promote the development and internationalization of the sector.
