Apply to Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Adventure and Outdoor Education – application period 8.1.2025- 22.1.2025

Kevään ensimmäinen yhteishaku 2022 on alkanut. Haku on käynnissä ajalla 5.1.-19.1.2022 (klo 15.00). Humakin hakukohteena on englanninkielinen yhteisöpedagogikoulutus, Bachelor of Humanities, Community Educator, Outdoor and Adventure Education Nurmijärven kampuksella.

Application period for the Bachelor’s Degree of Adventure and Outdoor degree programme has started! The application period is open from January 8, 2025, to January 22, 2025, at 3:00 PM (UTC+2).

In spring 2025 first joint application to higher education you can apply to our English-language Community Educator Degree Programme. The studies will start in August 2025 and you will study at our campus in Helsinki, Finland. Please note, that when applying, you must save and send your application form in StudyInfo portal before the end of the application period.

Starting from 1 Jan 2025, applicants from outside the EU, EEA or Switzerland are required to pay an application fee in order to apply to higher education studies. If you are from outside the aforementioned area and you are applying to Bachelor’s or Master’s level studies in Finland, you will need to pay the application fee. The application fee is 100 euros. The application fee does not guarantee that you will be offered admission to studies. Please see more information here: Application fee – Studyinfo

Become a Professional of the Outdoors

Bachelor of Humanities, Community Educator, Outdoor and Adventure Education degree programme’s (210 ECTS) multidisciplinary theoretical framework is put into practice from the beginning through practical activities and authentic learning environments. The focus of this community educator degree is in adventure and outdoor education.

As well as standard classroom teaching, the studies include hiking and trekking, kayaking, ropework and climbing and other activities developing the outdoor competence of adventure educators both in the winter and summer seasons. The unique Nordic wilderness serves as an incredible learning environment for our students in addition to our Helsinki campus and the nature reservoirs nearby Helsinki.

You Will Learn Pedagogic, Social, Technical, and Communication Skills As Well As Develop Your Multicultural Competence

The students will learn how to plan, organize, assess and carry out adventure education activities for various target groups in varied environments taking all conditions into account.

During the studies, students acquire pedagogical, social, technical, environmental and safety skills and they also will be prepared for entrepreneurship. The studies also include learning about the Nordic welfare model, preventive work, equality and diversity, and entrepreneurship.

During the first year of your studies, you can expect that approximately 1/3 of the time will be spent on classes/activities/practicing skills, 1/3 of the time will be spent on projects/independent studies/group assignments, and the last 1/3 will be spent in internships (working-life based practical training).

To succeed in your studies, you must have the required capabilities both physically and mentally for this active and challenging degree programme. The students must be prepared to work in varied social situations, in multicultural groups and to take part in on-site periods of the study modules. The students must act in a responsible and safe way. Your English language knowledge and capabilities must be good enough to ensure you understand everything taught to you, and that you can follow instructions and act safely in an English speaking group.

New Application Opportunity for Community Educator Program: Apply with SAT Results

Humak is also organizing a separate application process for the Bachelor of Humanities, Community Educator, Outdoor and Adventure Education program. This is a unique opportunity for applicants who wish to use their SAT scores for admission.

Application Period: January 23, 2025, 08:00 AM – April 17, 2025, 03:00 PM (UTC+2)
Apply directly based on your SAT results for a limited number of spots in the program. A minimum score of 400 in both evidence-based reading and writing, and 400 in Mathematics is required. Applicants must meet general eligibility requirements, with the necessary qualification completed by the application deadline.
