Game, AV and Music Industry Professionals to Meet in Tampere on October 6!

The IGDA Tampere X Indie Tampere October Games & Music Meetup brings together professionals from the game, audiovisual and music industries to connect, exchange ideas and explore opportunities for collaboration across industries.

The game and music industries in Tampere have active networks that regularly meet within their respective communities. In October, these networking events will come together for a special joint meetup!

The super meetup for the creative industries will take place on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, from 18:00 to 22:00 at Bar IHKU in Tampere (Hämeenkatu 23, 18+). The event languages are Finnish and English.

Guests: One Trick Entertainment and Game Music Composer Ari Pulkkinen

The evening will kick off with an update from our event partner One Trick Entertainment, highlighting their latest initiatives and opportunities.

The connection between the game and music industries will be explored in an interview with game music composer and sound designer Ari Pulkkinen (AriTunes). The discussion will cover changes in the industry, current opportunities and future prospects.

Pulkkinen is known for composing, among others, the theme music for Angry Birds, Outland, Dead Nation and Trine.

Ari Pulkkinen is an award-winning Finnish composer and audio director whose music and sound design have reached over two billion players worldwide. With over two decades shaping game audio—from composing and audio design for Angry Birds, Trine -series, Resogun and Next Machina to serving as Audio Lead for SAROS—he was recently honored with the Legacy Achievement Award at Nordic Game. Through his studio AriTunes, he provides comprehensive audio direction, music composition, and sound design, while continuing to serve as a veteran industry lecturer and consultant.

Connections & Conversations with Chat Corner and Speed Dating

If informal networking with new people isn’t quite your thing, the meetup also offers quick, 15-minute Speed Dating sessions hosted by Indie Tampere. In three-minute meetings, you’ll get a chance to quickly meet and connect with new people.

For those looking for deeper conversations, there will also be a Chat Corner, where participants can exchange ideas and discuss current topics in the industry with other professionals. The Chat Corner will be facilitated by IGDA.

FusionLabs Brings Content Creators Together

Bringing the IGDA and Indie Tampere networks together is a great example of a local willingness to push beyond established boundaries and bring people together. Informal networking events are valuable for many reasons: in addition to fostering a sense of community, they provide opportunities to exchange ideas with other professionals, hear about the latest initiatives and meet both familiar and new faces.

Indie Tampere organisers Matti Virtanen and Essi Laitinen immediately embraced the idea of a joint event with the game industry and came up with the theme of game music as a natural way to connect the two networks.

“The activity of the Indie network has surprised us organisers as well. We’ve received a huge number of great ideas from creators on how to develop the network, and this is one step towards testing new ways of building collaboration across different industries,” says Matti Virtanen, one of the network’s organisers, musician and songwriter.

Lauri Komulainen, who coordinates IGDA’s activities in Tampere, also saw the potential in bringing the networks together. Earlier this spring, IGDA organised a joint meetup with freelance actors, so connecting with the music industry is a natural continuation of opening the network to new fields.

The networking event, initiated by the FusionLabs project, is one step towards building collaboration across the creative industries.

“Collaboration requires people to meet, develop mutual interest and build trust. Events that provide plenty of time for informal conversation and having fun are exactly what makes this possible,” says Leena Janhila, Project Manager at Humak.

FusionLabs develops collaboration between creative industries and international business expertise in Pirkanmaa, Central Finland and Southwest Finland. The project is co-funded by the European Union and implemented by Humak, and will continue until January 2028.
