Humak’s first sustainability report published

The report covers eight areas: reporting principles, governance and management, strategy and the value chain, materiality assessment, environmental responsibility and carbon footprint, social responsibility, and the impact of education and RDI activities.

The report was prepared by a reporting team operating under the guidance of the sustainability group, comprising Experts Johanna Henriksson and Pekka Harjula, and Designer Anu Virtanen. Designer Emma-Karoliina Reponen was responsible for the visual design. The sustainability group is led by Head of Strategy Titta Pohjanmäki.

The report has been prepared in accordance with the Arene reporting template, which is used jointly by universities of applied sciences.

The next report will be published in spring 2027 and will cover the year 2026.

SDG Flag Day

Friday 25 September marks Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Flag Day. Schools, universities, companies and organisations across Finland will be flying flags in support of the UN’s 17 sustainable development goals.

At the heart of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals programme are 17 goals, which will guide global efforts towards sustainable development until 2030.

Humak is also taking part in the day by flying flags at our Helsinki campus. By doing so, we are showing our support for SDG work. We have identified four of the goals that are particularly closely linked to the core of Humak’s activities. These are quality education, reduced inequalities, sustainable cities and communities, and peace, justice and strong institutions.
