For new students

You will receive notification of the offer of a study place via email and through the Studyinfo service. If you are on a waiting list, you can check your status via the Studyinfo service. You can find detailed instructions regarding accepting the place, deadlines, and information on the One Study Place per Term rule in your admission results letter.

If you do not accept the study place by the given deadline, you will lose it. A forfeited study place cannot be reinstated once the acceptance deadline has passed.

Original work or degree certificates do not need to be brought to the study orientation days. Original certificates should only be submitted to Humak Student Services if requested personally. Humak may cancel the student selection if incorrect information about previous studies or work experience has been provided in the application.

Once you accept a binding offer of a place to study via Studyinfo, you will be able to enrol for the academic year either as attending or non-attending. Enrolment is done via Studyinfo in the OILI system. You will receive an email confirmation once your enrollment is confirmed. Please note that you can only register your attendance after accepting the offer to study at Humak. You cannot register your attendance while your acceptance is conditional (i.e. if you’re still on a waiting list for another place of study). After the first enrolment for the academic year, next enrolments will be done via Humak’s Peppi system.

If you do not enrol for the academic year by the given deadline, you will lose your study entitlement. If you failed to enrol for the academic year, but intend to begin your studies, you must apply separately for the reinstatement of the study entitlement.

You have the right to register as absent during your first year of study only if 

• you are obligated to perform a service under the Conscription Act, the Civil Service Act, or the Law on Voluntary Military Service for Women.
• you are on maternity, paternity, or parental leave, or you are unable to start your studies due to your illness or injury. 

The reasons mentioned above do not diminish the time period of your study entitlement. The reason for your absence must be verified by an official document. 

Humak ID (also known as Haka login) let’s you access Humak’s online learning environment Canvas and our internal system Peppi. First, sign up via the Suomi.fi service by using Finnish bank details or mobile ID, or identification methods for foreigners. More information about approved foreign identification methods are found in the Suomi.fi portal. See further instructions from your welcome letter email, which you’ll receive after your enrolment for the academic year.

If you cannot use the Suomi.fi service, we need to identify you through a Zoom meeting. For the meeting, you need to hold a valid passport or ID card with a photo. Please contact opintotoimisto@humak.fi to book a time for the meeting. If you can use Suomi.fi, you do not need to book a meeting.

Once you have access to Humak’s Peppi system, please check your personal information, such as your address and phone number. The information comes from your Studyinfo application. You can update your contact information. For name-related matters, please contact Humak Student Services at opintotoimisto@humak.fi.

When your study entitlement begins, you can access your Microsoft Outlook student email. Use Humak student email when you email Humak lecturers or staff or contact Humak services such as the study services (opintotoimisto@humak.fi) or IT support (support@humak.fi). See detailed instructions for signing up and logging into Microsoft Outlook email from the digital tools. Remember to check your student email regularly.

Get to know Humak’s study systems and tools you’ll use during your studies via the Study skills and digital competencies -course. Bachelor’s degree students can self-study the Study skills and digital competencies course when their study entitlement has begun, which is a week before orientation. Log in to Humak’s online learning platform Canvas with your Humak ID.

The Finnish Student Health Service FSHS (YTHS in Finnish) offers health care services for students studying for a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degrees at Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences and who are also registered as present for the semester. Health care services are available for a semester fee, which students pay to Kela on their own initiative. You do not have to pay the healthcare fee if you have social security coverage in another EU or EEA country, Switzerland, Great Britain or Northern Ireland. In this case, you can use the services of the FSHS even if you do not pay the healthcare fee.

Tuudo is a mobile application that brings together information and services useful to students. Tuudo retrieves information from study information systems (e.g. Peppi) and other services and brings it directly to your mobile device in real time.

In Tuudo you will find, among other things,

• Digital student card (student discounts for degree students)

• Study information (class schedule, course achievements, registrations)
• Internship places / job opportunities
• Library card
• Quick links to Humak student services
• Information about the student union HUMAKO

Tuudo can also be used at Humak by non-degree students, such as students at the Open University of Applied Sciences.

Where can I get Tuudo and how do I log in?

Tuudo works on Android, HarmonyOS and iOS devices. You can download Tuudo for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Select Humak UAS from the options. The first time you use Tuudo, log in with your Humak ID (without the @humak.fi part) and password. The ID is the same short username (e.g. in the form sukuet01) that you use to log in to Peppi, for example. Logging in is usually not required the following times.

You will need a laptop or hybrid tablet with a keyboard for your studies. The device must have a working camera and microphone for participating in online studies. You can also use headphones with a microphone.
