South Karelia Event Cluster
We are developing the South Karelia event industry and bringing together industry actors by forming a regional event cluster.
Karelia Resonates – Events Powering South Karelia’s Vitality
We are developing the South Karelia event industry and bringing together industry actors by forming a regional event cluster.
There is a clear need to create an event cluster in South Karelia – a cooperation network of different industries
– the purpose of which is to increase regional vitality by connecting companies, event producers,
research institutes, students and communities. The event cluster will make the regional
actors visible and increase dialogue between industries and later also between event producers in the regions – increasing cooperation between cities and, in this way, creating a new kind of attraction for the entire region.
The South Karelia Event Cluster project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the funding is provided by the Regional Council of South Karelia. The main target group of the project is the event producers in the province and the companies related to the event sector in the province and other stakeholders.
In the project, we map the event field in the region and its needs, provide training and sparring for the needs of the field, increase cooperation between event producers and investigate the regional economic, ecological and economic impact figures of the events. In addition, we develop new event concepts and promote the attraction of event visitors to the region. The project outputs will be compiled into a publication that contains information on the event production in the region and a guide for event producers.
Humak acts as a sub-implementer in the project. The project is managed by LAB University of Applied Sciences. Humak’s activities include mapping the event operator network and identifying the development needs of event producers. Based on the mapping, Humak will implement courses and sparring for eventproducers and participate in producing a data bank that will be compiled as the final output of the project
Our Goals
• The goal is to bring event producers together regardless of industry – to share good practices and make the areas of event production more visible and thus easier to understand for new parties interested in organizing events.
• The goal is to extend the province’s tourism season and develop event production and marketing expertise without forgetting internationality, as well as to develop regional capabilities for creating new events and hosting major events.
• The project will make the event field a significant player in the region’s attractiveness
