A study of the need for higher education in cultural production in Kainuu. This survey study is being conducted on the competency and training needs, attractiveness, and potential applicants in the field of culture and cultural production in Kainuu. The main content of the study involves interviews with cultural and creative industry actors and analysis of the material. These interviews align with the strategies defining the objectives of the project, industry surveys, other projects, and studies that shed light on the growth potential of the cultural sector, new job opportunities, and future skill needs in the field.

Based on the pre-study, a report will be prepared, outlining a model for implementing higher education level training in cultural management in Kainuu, based on interviews with Kainuu actors and other research analysis.

The project arose from the need: Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (KAMK) has been in discussions with cultural sector actors in Kainuu regarding training and skills needs during the autumn of 2023. These discussions highlighted the need for higher education level training in culture, which would be attractive to those interested in the field. In subsequent discussions, KAMK identified cultural management training as the most promising option, as it serves a wide range of cultural and artistic activities as well as the creative industries.
