Accessible educational pathways and the right to learn – “Is learning achievable for me”

Accessible educational pathways and the right to learn – “Is learning achievable for me” (ESF) -project was implemented by Humak University of Applied Sciences, Valo-Valmennusyhdistys ry and Live-Foundation sr. The ADHD Association acted as a consulting partner in the project. The overall aim of the project was to promote equality and accessibility at different stages and transitions in education. In particular, the focus was on promoting the accessibility of digital guidance and learning environments.
The outcome of the project was an ‘Accessible pathways’ website, which identifies different support needs and brings together existing expertise and experience. The website brings together information, tools, recommendations and materials for the different stages of the learning pathway. These can be further used to develop accessible learning pathways, digital learning environments and guidance services. The final publication of the project, Accessible pathways – Perspectives on accessible education and guidance, can also be found on the website.

Objectives

The aim of this ESF-project was to promote equal and accessible educational pathways and flexible study opportunities. The main task was to develop a digital and multi-channel guidance environment that identifies different needs of support and combines existing expertise and experience.

The target group for the project was people aged 18 and over who had experienced barriers or accessibility challenges in their own learning. The participants’ learning skills, digital skills and ability to use digital services will be developed through their participation in the co-development process. At different stages of the project, we worked with guidance staff working with the target groups, work coaches and experts and experience providers in the field of organisations.

The target groups involved in the development activities were able to influence how and with which tools digital guidance services can meet the continuous learning needs of individuals in a quality way, taking into account different aspects of accessibility. The project contributed to the development of knowledge that values diversity and serves the development of accessible services.
