The joint application for foreign language education ended on January 17, 2024. Among Humak’s applicants, the search included English-speaking Community pedagogue (AMK), adventure education. The studies are carried out during the day at the Helsinki campus and at various natural sites in Finland and abroad. Next, the applicants take part in the joint entrance exam for the English-language degrees of the universities of applied sciences. Studies start in the fall of 2024.

In January 2024, a total of 444 applicants applied to Humaki’s English-language adventure education-focused Yhteispedagogi (AMK) studies. 127 applicants had set Humak as their primary application wish. Humak was the only application wish of 58 applicants on the application form. There are 30 starting places in the group. Applications came from 51 countries.

Most application forms were submitted from Nepal

The top 3 applicant countries according to the number of applicants were: 1. Nepal (75), 2. Bangladesh (68), 3. Finland (45).

“Of the individual countries, the most applicants this year were from Nepal, which has had good students for the Adventure Education degree in previous years as well,” says adventure education team leader, lecturer Tero Lämsä.

Nepal is a familiar destination among many Humak lecturers and students. You can read about student Lari Laasjärvi‘s internship experiences in Nepal in our news.

Tero Lämsä reflects that the number of applicants from EU/EEA countries has not increased in recent years. According to Lämsä, it seems that in the future the group of international degree students will consist of an even more diverse and multicultural group of students from around the world. In training, we are also quite satisfied with the number of applicants.

“The number of applicants is good. We will get a motivated, international and competent group of future adventure education professionals to study with us this year as well”, believes Tero Lämsä.

The progression of student choices

In the January joint application, student selections will be made via an international online selection test on March 21, 2024 at 12:00 (Finnish time). The applicant must verify his language skills with a language test or previous studies. Read more about the choices on Humak’s website and The International UAS Exam (link opens to external pages).

In the first joint search of the spring, the results are published at different times in the universities. All results of the spring’s first joint application must be published by May 31, 2024 at the latest. Humak will publish the results of the Bachelor’s Degree in Adventure and Outdoor Education selections by April 10, 2024.

Since in the spring’s first joint application, the application wishes are not ranked in order of preference, the applicant may be accepted for several of his/her application wishes. It should be taken into account that you can get selection information for some application requests before the results of other application requests are ready.

Those who have received a study place in the first and second joint application of spring 2024 must accept the place no later than 11 July 2024 at 15:00.

If the applicant is accepted from the reserve on 11.7. after, the accepted person must notify the acceptance of the place no later than 15:00 on the 7th day after acceptance. Alternates can be accepted until July 30, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. or as long as starting places are available.

In addition to receiving a place to study, the person selected as a student must register at the university by the deadline, so as not to lose the right to study.
