New courses for the summer 2020 are now available for purchase at Humak’s web store. One of the new additions is an online course titled ’’Community Educators as Adventure Education Experts’’. The course will begin on the first day of June and ends in mid-August.
The course, which is open for everyone, sheds light on Adventure Education both in the context of community education studies and in general. The students can complete the assignments at their own pace, as long as everything is completed by the final deadline.
The course has previously been exclusively included in the degree program curriculum in Adventure and Outdoor Education, Community Educator (Bachelor of Humanities). However, this particular course is a great opportunity for anyone interested in the theory and practice of adventure education.
Contents and learning outcomes
During the course, students will familiarize themselves with the basic ideas, pedagogy, and principles of adventure education. They will delve into the facets of preventive work and learn how it supports the growth and development of individuals and groups, promotes personal engagement, reinforces a sense of community, and promotes general well-being.
They will also deepen their awareness of the multiple fields of adventure education, such as youth work, organizational work, education, well-being services, and nature- and adventure-based entrepreneurship.
By the end of the course, students will be familiar with the professional field of adventure education, and recognize its applicability and potential.
How to sign up
The course is currently available at our web store. The sign-up period will end on May 24 at 23:59:00 (EET).
The total cost of the course is €75. Humak grants a 50 % discount for pensioners, unemployed persons, and graduated Humak alumni.
